Triple the Focus
Caribbean eMagazine, Triple the Focus launched its publication on October 5, 2011. With features that run the gamut from Music, Entertainment, Fitness, Beauty, Travel, Lifestyle and Finance, the magazine’s reach extends across the globe and includes countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, South and Central America, and the Caribbean. To date, the magazine has over 2,300,000 million page views ,not including other high traffic websites that host the link of the magazine on a monthly basis.
On July 23, 2013, Triple the Focus was featured on the homepage of the Digital Publishing website, Issuu. Out of 11 million publications, Triple the Focus’ February 2013 issue featuring athlete, Asafa Powell, the June 2013 issue featuring Grammy Award winning reggae artist, Shaggy, and the July 2013 issue featuring 2010’ Miss Universe runner-up Yendi Phillipps, were prominently featured on the site exposing the magazine to 72 million readers. In celebration of their two year anniversary in October of 2013, the magazine launched a fashion showcase dubbed Lights, Camera, Fashion, at Milk River Café in Brooklyn, New York. The event was hosted by International Supermodel Stacey McKenzie, who has worked with top designers including Jean Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Alexander McQueen, Betsey Johnson, Tommy Hilfiger, Todd Oldham, Michiko Koshino and Christian Lacroix, and has appeared in a number of major campaigns including Benetton, Calvin Klein CK, Jean Paul Gaultier, MAC, Mexx, Reebok, Todd Oldham Jeans, Nordstrom, Barneys and Banana Republic. The event featured collections from Caribbean labels drennaLUNA, LaPoshe, Donovan DePass and Pieces NY.
The success of the event prompted Triple the Focus to kick-start plans to make Lights, Camera, Fashion an annual event to be held in September during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, beginning in 2014. The goal of the event is to provide a platform on a grand scale for emerging Caribbean designers that will include buyers from Macy’s, JC Penney, Nordstrom etc., and include media and celebrity guests.
During Women’s History Month, Triple the Focus produced an empowerment series, Ladies Who Brunch, which was launched on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at SoCo Restaurant in Brooklyn, New York. Women in the field of Law, Medicine, Beauty, Publishing, Media, Entertainment, Music, Insurance, Finance, Fashion and Art attended the event to talk about the contributions they are making in their field, the challenges they face and what is needed to move forward. The discussions yielded support, pledges of assistance and shared resources. The event was sponsored by Bartenura Moscato, VICRAE INC, and SuKari Inc, was covered by Emmy award winning journalist, Nicole Johnson, and was featured on WPIX 11.
